Industry Case Study: West Sixth Towers
Challenge
Situation: West Sixth, on the corner of Mill and 6th avenue in downtown Tempe had sat unoccupied and only 80% finished for a significant amount of time while awaiting new ownership. As new ownership came in, Arizona Repair Ma-sons was contracted to provide various types of concrete repair.
Challenges: Arizona Repair Masons were contracted in June and due to owners wanting to be open in time for the fall semester at ASU, tower 1 had to be completed by the first week in August. While two and a half months seems like a long schedule, massive amounts of concrete repair were required on all 22 floors of the tower and all floors of the parking garage below.
Solution
Solution: Arizona Repair Masons ran three crews daily at West Sixth to prepare tower 1 in time. AZRM performed many different types of concrete repairs including smoothing of structural columns, chipping deteriorated concrete and patching back, placing elevator pour back strips and patching and capping of post-tensioned cables.
Conclusion: Arizona Repair Masons impressed Summit Builders with their performance, knowledge, and workmanship in tower 1. Summit contracted with AZRM for tower 2 as well, keeping AZRM on-site into October.
